One in a Million Award recipient: Amy Simso Dean

Where she’s multiplying good: Minneapolis, Minnesota

How she’s multiplying good: She is One in a Million. Amy loves birds! Besides starting an elementary school birding club, and creating awesome art in her Scrappy Birds Etsy shop, she found ways to help families have fun, learn something new and possibly pick up a new habit, bird watching during COVID-19.First she set up a neighborhood Facebook page called Bird by Bird. She invited anyone and everyone who was anxious to get outside with some purpose. She posts birds she's seen, what to look for, where to find them and all sorts of people began to contribute. Then she went on one of Minneapolis' most used walking trails and put up (environmentally safe) photos of birds you might see on your walk. Soon home-schooling parents were headed out with their kids to learn and do scavenger hunts to find birds. Amy is amazing at sharing her passion and helping others to enjoy it too. All of Southwest Minneapolis enjoyed her efforts.
