The Champlin Park SIA team completed 13 projects, engaged 1193 members of their school community engaging in an astounding 14,500 hours of service. But the numbers alone don’t tell the story.

The team’s Global Response Unit researched the impact of two global crises, Hurricane Maria and world hunger. They organized a successful and creative fundraiser based on the TV show Survivor, and also hosted a meal packing event, packing 44,000 meals. Members of the subgroup worked together to identify their skills and talents and employed them to the benefit of their team and the issues they chose to address.

“Volunteering in our community through Students In Action has enlightened us about the issues that plague it and what we can do to change them. Through SIA we have built essential skills in the areas of teamwork, leadership and understanding.”
